Who it is for

  • Career changers who want to move into project planning.
  • Junior planners who use P6 but want to understand the logic behind the dates.
  • Engineers, quantity surveyors and site managers moving into project controls.

Bring pen and paper, and P6 on your laptop if you have it. It is not essential; you can follow every step on screen.

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. No card details are asked for, now or on the day.

Will it be recorded?

Yes. Everyone who registers receives the replay by email on the afternoon of the class. It stays available until Monday 2 November at 18:00 GMT.

What time is it for me?

09:30 to 14:00 in the UK is 10:30 to 15:00 in Lagos, 13:30 to 18:00 in Dubai and 05:30 to 10:00 in Toronto. UK clocks go back on 25 October, so the class runs on GMT.

Will you sell anything?

Near the end I will introduce Vanguard, our paid six-week cohort, for anyone who wants to go further. Joining is entirely your choice, and everything taught before it is yours to keep.

I am new to planning. Will I keep up?

Yes. We start from the first activity and build up step by step, by hand first and then in P6.

Do I need P6?

No. If you have it, follow along; if not, watch the build on screen and practise afterwards.

Why is it called Pathfinder?

Pathfinders go in ahead of the main force to mark the route. In planning, finding the critical path is the first job. This class does both: you find the path on Saturday, and Vanguard, our six-week cohort, follows from Monday 9 November for anyone who wants to go further.

Saturday 31 October, 09:30 GMT. Bring a pen.
